Correspondence and invoices from companies supplying brass and rubber goods and hardware to ships' chandler in Portland, Maine; suppliers include Benedict & Burnham Manufacturing Co. in Waterbury, Edward Miller & Co. in Meriden, John W. Gray & Co. in Hartford and P. & F. Corbin in New Britain, all in Conn. The billheads of Brown & Brothers and of Randolph and Clowes, both in Waterbury, Conn. and of Peck Bros. & Co. in New Haven, Conn., bear vignettes of their factories and those of the Armstrong Manufacturing Co. in Bridgeport, Conn., and of W. & B. Douglas in Middletown, Conn., bear images of the tools they made.

From 1868 William, Henry and Adam Brown occupied Buckholm Corn Mill. Adam retired in 1875, William and Henry died in 1883 and 1885 respectively, and control was passed to William's sons.
